Personal Responsibility In The Life Of A Christian

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put offyour old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.” Eph 4:22-24 (NIV)

This week we discussed the Greek word “apotithemi” (“to put off” in Eph 4:22 above). As believers, we put off the old way of living and undergo transformation by the renewing of our minds, choosing to live according to the new self. This requires us to have a sense of personal responsibility. We choose every moment of the day to surrender to the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:16).

If you are convinced that the Spirit of God raised Jesus from the dead, you also ought to be fully convinced that His power enables you to continually put on your new, holy self in Christ. You have the power to live right! (1 Peter 5:3-4, 1 John 5:4) You have the power to lay aside, cast off, put away your old ways of thinking and living. Be encouraged, you are fully equipped with everything we need to live a godly life (2 Peter 1:3).

  1. Thanks @purposefaith. I like how you described Satan’s suggestive temptation to Eve. That is the root of pride, jealousy and usurping of authority. When we begin to doubt the motive of the leader, we find ourselves in a predicament that will lead to transgression. We are to trust that God know what’s best for us and be content with what He has given. This is eye-opening.

  2. You look so beautiful pst Nia.
First of all i am glad you remind us that personal ministry is not only pastor and all but also mother sister daughter this is deep…Lord loves you at all level so as we are trusting Him to reveal to us our purpose let us continue to love Him crazily…as we love our community or people in our lives because like you said it is the first commandment wowww…
Free will to choose what you want about the Lord our salvation..like it because God said it is our responsibility to work our own salvation with fear and trembling…the truth is that like you said pst Nia we always have a choice because like your son we know the truth and we know we can do better..
Anything you run away will definitely leave you…when satan understands that nothing in you can accept him and his evil plans he will get tired and as you flee he will go in another direction so you can keep walking in the plans of God..
I do strongly believe and no doubt that christ was raised from death..
Indeed if christ was risen out of death it means we can rise from the old to the new..the death of christ destroyed our sins so we have the choice to work hard daily to not go back to our vomit our old lives old hindrances so we can really shine the light of christ in us..
The truth is that Jesus can’t help you if you are not willing to change your old ways..Jesus will knock but if you dont open the door he wont stay and he will never force you to stay with you if not welcome by you..

Thank you pst Nia for this prayer..may God empower you and reward every of your sacrifice for this kingdom work!!
    Remain strong and blessed!
