Today I was reminded how critical our obedience is. There are so many Scriptures that tell us that life isn’t just about hearing or studying the word of God. The critical piece is taking what we hear and putting it into action. In Matt 7:24-27, Jesus compares everyone who is hearing His words to builders. There are two camps: wise builders and foolish builders. Everyone is hearing, and everyone is building. But a wise builder hears and obeys out of love (John 14:15). As a result, the foundation is strong and the house he builds survives the test of time. There’s so much to glean from this short passage.

I remember, kinda makes me think on how challenging it is when you know the right thing to do is not always what you want to do. It takes commitment and a lot of faith in God to just obey his word and trust his timing and purpose.

Very true @Marlinchabely Christianity is not a passive religion. One has to be actively involved in the process. It takes discipline, commitment and focus to experience the good life promised us in the Bible. Jesus said in John 6:27, “labor for the food that nourishes you to everlasting life.” Paul in Hebrew 4:11, says, “make the effort to enter into God’s rest.”

I can go on and on to cite scriptures that teaches us that our walk of faith is like an exercise. You have to develop the habit of studying the Bible, praying, obeying and acting on what you learn.

And lastly, Joshua 1:8, “Keep this book of the law (the Bible) always on your mind. Think about it night and day, making you sure to practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you are going and you will succeed and truly be happy.’
