Tech Tip : USB Devices & MALWARE
Hey future tech savvy people, here is a tech tip for the day and I’m going to talk about my every day experiences that everyone can relate to.
We have all use “ USB devices”, we use either to transport files , or to store information to be able to print out later or sometimes even to download operating systems. However do you know these are personal devices and should not be shared with anyone.
Yesterday an acquaintance asked me for my USB, the human in me obliged.
I gave it to them to use however the security threat analyst inside of me knows that I cannot take that USB and put it back in my computer they may have not done anything to it, but I know the risk of having a script written on that USB that has malware or virus that can shut down my whole system or infect my whole system so I will not be using that USB anymore and will have it destroyed and buy another one not because I don’t trust my friend I don’t trust the criminal that resides in cyberspace that everybody’s is susceptible to, his computer could be compromised and could compromise my own bios .
Moral of the story do not share your USB -treat your usb as private part that you do not share with any everybody else it is exclusive because whatever gets infected in the USB can infect your whole system.
