Yes Lord we agree in prayer for everyone on this platform that this year 2021 we will be separated and shieded from the evil that is in the world. The evil wind of deception, perversion and apostasy will not swerve us. Our faith will grow stronger and our love will be deeper and find expression in everything we do bringing all people to the light of this gospel of God’s glorious kingdom and reign in their lives. In Jesus’ Amen!

Growing up as a young Christian during my high school days, I read a lot of the bible epistles especially Paul’s letters and that of Peter. They formed the guiding principles of my behaviour or lifestyle as a believer. I found in them the true expression of the Christian experience because they actually talk about day to day challenges of being a Christian and how to respond to them.
Romans 14 is one of such letters that I repeatedly read because it deals with tolerance of our biopsychosocial differences as believers. Instead of comparing ourselves or criticizing ourselves we should focus on what unites is in love. We stop trying to look for faults in what other people or perhaps denominations do, rather build our faith and look for what will build the faith of others too. I think every believer should read Romans 14 and indeed the epistles to know how we ought to conduct ourselves as believers.

Aptly and succinctly written. I think Christmas is the biggest birthday party on earth and heaven. As in big birthday parties, there are usually guests who don’t know the celebrant but love the pomp of the celebration. The beauty is that all have been invited to sit and feast at the Lord’s table. He says “whosoever will may come”. That’s why I see Christmas as an opportunity to announce to everyone around, about the love and feast of our Lord Jesus! Reminding them that he may have come like a baby in a manager in His first coming but He will appear in all His glory as King of kings and Lord of lords and every eye will see Him and will declare Him as Lord of all in His second coming! So in Christmas we say, “come Lord Jesus, come!” Peace!

Making spirits bright!
I imagine that Mary had made her exciting wedding plans, chosen a dress, probably a lovely ride to be chaffeured in, printed invitation cards and a brilliant honeymoon destination. But all of these were about to be interupted by one “Merry Christmas” greeting from God to Mary through angel Gabriel. (I love this angel because he tends to bring interrupting painfully pleasant ? announcements.) All of a sudden Mary’s plans were turned downside up at christmas, with the 3 wise men and the shepherds as uninvited guests. Now Egypt became the unwanted honeymoon destination with a baby in the middle ??. It couldn’t have been better or should I say, worse. But it gave birth to the best thing that ever happened to the world – the saviour of mankind! Thats why we celebrate Christmas!
I can tell stories of people who had a “Merry Christmas” experience, but space would fail me. I even thought of one closer to us. If Pst Phil would allow, I just thought of how he had set out to study medicine but God had a different plan in mind and gave him a “Merry Christmas” which has played a role in birthing this platform we enjoy. I’m sure you can tell us your story! Mine is for another day?. Enjoy your Christmas! Love from me to you ?

The earth is the Lord’s and its fullnesa thereof and also the heart of the king is in God’s hand and He can turn it wherever He wills. I join my faith with everyone to speak peace on the tumults in these African nations. May God raise leaders after His heart for the peace and prosperity of His people and may God dethrone the counsel of the Wicked who seek to destroy. Amen.

I agree in prayer for my country Nigeria that the peace of God will overthrow the darkness and cause light to arise in her midst. May God raise the right leaders for her and overthrow the counsel of the wicked who lie in wait to destroy. May her end be peace and righteousness on all sides! Amen!

This reminds us that love is active and not a passive thing. We have to be intentional about doing good or showing love especially to people we think don’t deserve it. Though hard and sometimes painful, We need to work to remove the barriers of sentiments and prejudice which may prevent us from displaying the extravagant love of Christ to the world around us.

This is thought-provoking when we think of the fact that the demons knew Paul by surveillance. It reminds me not to treat the work of God with levity because even the demons are looking out to see how impactful or influential our Christian work is in our environment. The name of Jesus is given to us by God and unlike the sons of Sceva, we have the authority to use it to cast out demons. Its our privilege and we will use it over the dark forces of this world!

The influence parents have on their children is enormous. As a doctor in my psychiatry rotation, its amazing how many mental health problems stem from poor family structures. Also growing up I realise that those seemingly little morning devotions at home went a long way to shaping our perspectives or response to our surroundings. I see my son and daughter learning to pray and sing godly songs. I think we owe our children the right example because they are that next generation which we hope to see.

So true Pst Phil. I believe God is interested in raising believers who are deeply rooted in the deep foundations of the Kingdom and not just the glories that come with it. I’m amazed to realise how the word “meekness” is hardly in the christian vocabulary. Little wonder the impact of christianity is not felt as much despite the growth in the number of churches. I see the church growing deeper and stronger with these foundational doctrines.

Hi Rebecca you don’t need to be embarrassed, I’m sure a lot of us are like that. The good thing is that when we find what we are passionate about, we find ourselves overcoming this day by day one step at a time. And I think you are doing that. We can let go of our past inadequacies and we’ll be surprised by who we have become which is our true self.
