It occurred to me this week while having a long discussion with a work colleague who like me has been a christian all his life but he asked me several deep questions which provoked sober reflections in me because these are questions we take for granted that every believer should know. But then I realised that many of us who are born into christian families have grown up with assumptions about God and Christianity that when put to test or challenged, we may begin to question our beliefs. We could assume that once we become born again then things will begin to change miraculously around our lives. However, the christian life is not a passive life. I could quote various scriptures with the words,’work’ or ‘striving’ which are active words. We are saved by grace, however our faith is demonstrated by our works. We need to actively engage and seek to know the Holy Spirit and the Word of God and not wait for something to move us? Do we know what the foundational teachings of the bible are? why the bible? why born again? why is Jesus the only way? I think most of these questions are answered in the Kingdom life class course.
