    Introduction

Solomon is remembered as the wisest king in Israel’s history, and much of his wisdom was practical, dealing with money, work, and human behaviour. The books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes capture timeless business principles that guide how we steward resources, manage people, and create ventures that honour God. His counsel proves that Kingdom business is not just about profit, but about purpose, integrity, and legacy.

    Biblical Foundation

    • “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.” (Proverbs 10:4)
    • “Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.” (Ecclesiastes 11:2)
    • “The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.” (Proverbs 11:1)
    • “One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.” (Proverbs 11:24)
    • “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

    Lessons from Solomon

    1. Diligence Creates Prosperity: Hard work and persistence lead to growth; laziness erodes wealth. Proverbs 10:4; Proverbs 12:24
    2. Diversify & Manage Risk: Spread your ventures; don’t depend on a single source. Ecclesiastes 11:2
    3. Seek Counsel & Collaboration: Business decisions in isolation are prone to failure; wise counsel brings stability. Proverbs 15:22
    4. Integrity Builds Trust: Dishonest practices may profit short-term but destroy reputation and favour. Proverbs 11:1; Proverbs 20:23
    5. Value Timing & Seasons: Success comes from knowing when to plant, when to harvest, and when to wait. Ecclesiastes 3:1–8
    6. Generosity Unlocks Increase: Giving multiplies, while hoarding diminishes. Proverbs 11:24–25
    7. Don’t Chase Vanity — Build Value: Wealth without purpose is meaningless. Ecclesiastes 2:11
    8. Continuous Learning & Adaptation: Stay teachable and discerning in every season. Proverbs 1:5; Proverbs 18:15

Many Fortune 500 companies now embed “corporate social responsibility” (CSR) into their strategy—not as charity, but as good business sense. This echoes Solomon’s principle of generosity creating multiplication. Businesses that give back to society often enjoy stronger loyalty, influence, and long-term sustainability.

    Practice Points

    • Adopt diligence as a lifestyle, not just in “big moments.”
    • Build multiple income or influence streams in line with your calling.
    • Seek mentors and peer accountability for wise decisions.
    • Make honesty and fairness non-negotiable in every transaction.
    • Learn to sense the season—when to start, expand, pivot, or pause.
    • Practice generosity as a growth strategy, not a loss.
    • Ensure your work serves a higher purpose than profit.
    • Keep growing in wisdom by reading, learning, and applying.

    Interactive Challenge

    1. Which of Solomon’s principles do you struggle with most—diligence, diversification, integrity, timing, generosity, or purpose?
    2. How might applying it transform your business, career, or daily work?
