Raising & Mentoring Kingdom Professionals
Introduction
Advanced Kingdom innovators don’t just build careers and businesses — they raise people. The true measure of posterity is not only in structures but in successors who embody Kingdom values. A professional or entrepreneur who invests in mentoring others creates a multiplying effect that outlives them.
Jesus modelled this: He spent most of His ministry pouring into 12 disciples who later changed the world. Paul instructed Timothy to “entrust what you have heard from me to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others” (2 Timothy 2:2). Kingdom pioneers think generationally — they build people as much as they build systems.
Biblical Foundation
- “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” (2 Timothy 2:2)
- “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 11:1)
- “One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” (Psalm 145:4)
Biblical Example: Moses mentored Joshua, preparing him not only to lead Israel into the Promised Land but also to carry God’s presence faithfully. Without Joshua’s training under Moses, the conquest could have failed.
Contemporary Example: Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A, emphasized mentoring leaders who shared biblical values of hospitality, stewardship, and generosity. Today, the company’s culture of mentorship has sustained it across generations.
Practice Points
- Spot Potential: Identify people around you with character and hunger to grow.
- Model & Teach: Let mentees watch your habits, not just your successes.
- Give Responsibility: Entrust real tasks; mentoring is not just talking but training.
- Transfer Values: Codify Kingdom principles into stories, practices, and policies.
- Encourage Multiplication: Challenge those you mentor to also mentor others.
Interactive Reflection Prompts
- Do you have 1–2 people in your circle you could begin mentoring intentionally?
- What core Kingdom values would you want to pass on to them?
- Mentorship Map Exercise – Create a simple “mentorship map” with:
- One person above you (who mentors you).
- One or two peers (who sharpen you).
- One or two people below you (whom you are mentoring).
Commit to at least one action step with those you mentor this month.
