In our journey of faith, the call to embrace the unknown is a divine invitation to witness the miraculous. The kingdom principle boldly declares that real growth and God’s promises are often found beyond the boundaries of our comfort and control. The world tells us that certainty brings safety, yet Scripture speaks of a deeper truth: faith flourishes in the unexplored places where God’s voice is the guide.

Isaiah 43:18-19 offers us a powerful assurance: “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” The Lord Himself is doing something new, yet our perception is hindered when the past governs our vision. Abraham was summoned away from familiar paths into the unknown, trusting a promise he couldn’t see. Similarly, at the edge of the Red Sea, Israel’s way forward was unclear until they stepped out in faith, and God made a way through the waters.

Stepping into the unknown can feel unsettling, but it is precisely where God reveals His strength and creativity. It demands our humility, as we relinquish our need for control, and it deepens our dependence on Him. May our hearts be open to perceiving God’s new works, ready to step forward in faith, assured that He leads with purpose and love.

    Biblical Points

    Perceiving God’s New Work:
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (ESV)
This scripture challenges us to release our attachment to past experiences and anticipate the new paths God is forging. By tuning our hearts to His voice, we embrace the opportunities God places in our path.

    Faith’s Reward Awaits Beyond Comfort:
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” — Hebrews 11:1 (ESV)
True faith trusts God beyond the visible and secure, venturing into uncertainties with confidence in His promises, as Abraham did when called out of Ur.

    Take the First Step:
“By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned.” — Hebrews 11:29 (ESV)
This passage illustrates the miracles unleashed by our obedient first steps. When we move at God’s word, He parts the seas of impossibility before us.

    Courage in God’s Voice:
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5 (ESV)
As we heed God’s directives, we find courage, even in vague or uncharted directions, knowing His wisdom surpasses our understanding.

    Equipped for His Plans:
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” — Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
God has preordained paths of good works we must step into; trusting in this reality emboldens us to step into unknowns with assurance.

    Discussion Questions

    1. Why do you think God calls us to step away from comfort and into the unknown?
    2. What past experiences or fears might be hindering your perception of the new things God wants to do in your life?
    3. How can you cultivate trust in God’s plan when it leads you into unfamiliar territory?

    Memory Verse

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:19 (ESV)

    Closing Encouragement

As you step out into the unknown, may you find strength in God’s unchanging nature and His wondrous plan for your life. While the world might equate greatness with accumulation and certainty, God’s kingdom unfolds as we walk humbly, serve others, and rely fully on Him. With each step of faith, we align ourselves more closely with His eternal purposes, experiencing the quiet majesty of His transformative love. You are invited into a venture where sight is unnecessary, for His Word is enough to guide and sustain you. Embrace it wholeheartedly, for there He is doing a new thing.
