May 17: Walking on His Word
In our walk with God, we are often called to move in directions that defy human logic. The kingdom principle found in 2 Corinthians 5:7, “for we walk by faith, not by sight,” challenges the notion that we must see to believe. Worldly thinking demands visible proof, clinging to certainty while dismissing anything unseen. Yet, Scripture beckons us to embrace faith as our navigational guide, trusting in His Word above the winds that roar around us. Peter’s walk on water commenced not when he placed his foot on the waves, but when he responded to Jesus’ simple invitation: “Come” (Matthew 14:29).In these instances of divine invitation, our faith is tested—not just in crisis, but in everyday decisions. Whether it’s a career change, a move, or a relationship, the call to “walk on His Word” feels like stepping into the unknown. But our story isn’t about proving God’s Word; it’s about living it out. Like Peter, our eyes must be firmly fixed on Jesus, anchoring our heart’s disposition to hear His voice, “Come,” above the noise. When we cultivate this practice, our faith grows beyond the momentary storms, affixing our hope in God’s faithfulness, not in the shifting sands of human assurance.
