Kingdom Chat Week 37: Wisdom for Witty Inventions
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. Proverbs 8:12 KJV
I recently decided to look up Christians who have made a mark in the world of science. I was amazed to find famous discoveries in different aspects of life created by practicing Christians from the 17th to 20th century. Robert Boyle, John Dalton, Isaac Newton, Ernest Walton, Florence Nightingale, and Charles Babbage inspire me. We are often made to think that faith and science do not mix or contradict each other, but that could not be farther from the truth. Proverbs 25:2 states, “It is God’s privilege to conceal things and the king’s privilege to discover them.” God created the earth to partner with humankind for its replenishment. His first instruction to Adam and Eve was to multiply, subdue and replenish the earth. Part of the development process of Adam was to discover the “God concealed” creation through the wisdom of God and by this will subdue and replenish the earth – this is the glory of man. This does not presuppose a passive living or escape mentality, as some will have us think that everything in the world is evil, so we should leave it to the unbelievers; after all, God will destroy the earth, and we will be off to heaven. God created this earth for habitation and saw that it was good; although Satan corrupted it, the scripture tells us that the creation is awaiting the manifestation of the Sons of God (Rom.8:19). So God’s plan is still for man to inhabit this earth as well as the new earth.
Amazingly, every believer is blessed with divine abilities that become more evident as we expose ourselves to intentional, consistent fellowship with God and meditation on His words. David says in Psalms 119:99 -100, “I have a better understanding and deeper insight than all my teachers [because of Your word], For Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the aged [who have not observed Your precepts] because I have observed and kept Your precepts.” Little wonder why David was one of the most fabulous kings of Israel.
Research has shown that people who speak in tongues are more emotionally stable and rarely suffer mental illness. https://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/07/health/07brain.html. Wow! I don’t need research to know this because this is my experience too. There is so much more about Christianity that we are yet to experience. The bible says that we have the mind of Christ – this means we think like Christ, and it does not imply religious thinking, far from it! Jesus said in John 10:10 that He came so we can have life to the full -this is the divine life endowed with divine wisdom which enables us to see beyond the superficial meaning of the material world surrounding us into the very essence/purpose of their existence. For this reason, Jesus could ask Peter to open the belly of a fish, find a coin, and even speak to 5 loaves of bread and two fish multiplied to feed thousands.
God wants us to respond to the call for faith-inspired innovation in our world today. We are the solution to the cries of the suffering of the people around us. It is God’s glory when we utilize our faith-exposed minds to think out solutions in our endeavors, whether in school, office, family, relationships, business, technological or social advancements, etc. The list is endless. Our faith should bear tangible results by creating products that will touch peoples’ lives positively. We must take the driving seat to reach the world by showing them the manifestations of the wisdom of God, displaying the glory of His Kingdom. We are to showcase the glory of the Kingdom of God as His physical ambassadors, just as Moses’ rod turned into a serpent and swallowed the serpents (rods) of Pharaoh’s Magicians. And Joseph’s wisdom overcame the wisdom of Egypt; Daniel, who was ten times wiser than other Governor’s in his time. It is our responsibility to show the world that what no eye has seen, or ear heard, or entered into the heart of man, we as believers have access to these for the glory of God.

Can you mention some more examples of innovations in our world today that faithful Christians have led? In what way has your faith helped you develop ideas or products to help others around you?
