Kingdom Chat Week #11: A Kingdom Of Kings And Priests – God Wants To Use You Too
I feel honored to lead the Kingdom chat discussion this week and it is usually a life-changing experience, to allow ourselves to be educated in the scriptures. Please allow some time to go through the scriptures below as a foundation of our discussion this week. Feel free to read them over again.
So Moses went out and told the people what the Lord had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the tent. Then the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took some of the power of the Spirit that was on him and put it on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied—but did not do so again. However, two men, whose names were Eldad and Medad, had remained in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but did not go out to the tent. Yet the Spirit also rested on them, and they prophesied in the camp. A young man ran and told Moses, “Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.” Joshua son of Nun, who had been Moses’ aide since youth, spoke up and said, “Moses, my lord, stop them!” But Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them!” Numbers 11:24-29 NIV
‘In the last days, God says,I will pour out my Spirit on all people.Your sons and daughters will prophesy,your young men will see visions,your old men will dream dreams.Even on my servants, both men and women,I will pour out my Spirit in those days,and they will prophesy. Act 2:17 – 18
…and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.” Exodus 19:6
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
The church is not a pyramid scheme designed for the benefit of a privileged few or a one man show, but a representative of the heavenly Kingdom of God here on earth. Following the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, God orchestrated a plan of salvation through Abraham from which he raised the Israelites. His original intention as we read in Exodus 19:6, was for them to be a Kingdom of Kings and Priests, with Him as their God, but unfortunately, they lost the plot and instead asked God to give them a physical King to rule over them. This was never God’s plan. Fast forward to our times now, through the church, God has finally manifested this purpose as we read in the letter from Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 2:6 – we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood. This is further confirmed in Revelation 1:6 that God has made us a Kingdom and Priests to our God. Notice that the words are in present tense, meaning that He has already made us, and not going to make us.
The question then arises on how many of us actually acknowledge that we are Kings and preists to God. I am not sure of how many believers really believe this much about themselves because if most of us realize this, the work of the Pastors or church ministers would be less and there would be less abuse of God’s children. We would not see a lot of God’s people just like the Israelites short-changing themselves for lesser blessings, running from pillar to post looking for miracles, being pre-occupied by the baser issues of life; and surely, our prayers would change from being beggarly to be more authoritative.
Every member of this kingdom has something he has been given to offer and none of us is inconsequential to God’s Plan. We are extensions of Himself and He wants us to be fully aware of this so we can step in and step up to fulfil our role as emissaries of this Heavenly kingdom.
Growing up to see the pattern of Church assembly we have today, we understand the reason there is a lot of divisions, with different people taking sides based on their denominations or socio-cultural or political affinities or affiliations. We have a tendency to see people through the prism of these affiliations rather than as God’s creation which is why for instance, we see a Christian person feels okay to discriminate against a muslim or Hinduist or atheist etc. and vice versa or we hear of phrases like “a black people church” or “a white people’s church”.
However, Jesus did not come to establish any church denomination; Jesus did not even contemplate establishing another religion! He did not hold any religious or ethno-political affiliations because he understood that there are only two Kingdoms – the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of darkness, and two kinds of Governments – the Government from Heaven operating under God’s authority, and the Government of this world controlled by the Satan and his corruption. This is why when Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate, he remained quiet on everything until the moment Pilate made the assertion that he had the power to free or condemn him, to which Jesus replied authoritatively, “you could have no power at all against me unless it had been given you from above…” Jesus came to restore man back to his position in the Kingdom of God under the authority of heaven. In the end, there will be only one Kingdom, One Authority, Under One God and His Christ. Glory to God!
Many believers today have the impression that God only talks to or reveals His will to only a certain category of Christians – perhaps only their pastors, priests, leaders or a privileged set of persons. They see themselves as unworthy to lead the call of God because may be, they are expecting some big encounter to herald their call from God. Conversely, some who are called into a leadership position in the church assembly see themselves as the only special ones and see others as inferior to them by reason of their call. Like Joshua asked Moses to stop Eldad and Medad from prophesying because they are not part of “the chosen club of elders”, these group of believers do not think other believers are at their level. But little wonder why Moses is regarded as the meekest man as he gave a response of an exemplary and unambitious leader – I wish all of God’s children were prophets. Wow! The most interesting part of this is that God has answered this prayer. He has poured His Holy spirit on us all in these last days so we can all prophesy as we see it happen since the day of Pentecost! Hallelujah! There are no non-entities in the church of the Living God. Do not let anybody tell you something else about yourself.
Now is time to step in and be properly positioned into God’s calling for your life in these last days. This is the reason for this Kingdom Concept movement and this community. Our role is to support and equip the children of God to lead and fulfil their God-given potentials. You are not just a passive member in God’s kingdom but an active change agent to show forth the praises of Him who has called us out of darkness into the Kingdom of His marvelous light. Thanks @michael for this exhortation. We are truly kings and priests to our God becuase He has made us so. As a king, in this kingdom, my role is show forth the glory of God by living according to His standards. To fill my mind with His word and carry His thoughts and act out His character.
I am called to create like He did and speak words of power because as the Bible says, “where the king’s word is, there’s power.”
As a priest, I consecrate myself to the fullest measure to seek His divine presence and to grant heaven the passage way to anoint my relight as a king. So, it’s a two-prong fork. We get to reign as kings and pray as priests. 🤴
