July 24: Provision in the In-Between
The in-between seasons of life can often feel like waiting rooms—dull, stagnant, seemingly unproductive. Yet, in God’s kingdom, these seasons are often the most fertile grounds for growth and provision. When Jacob’s family settled in Goshen, they were living in an in-between period; not yet returning to the promised land, yet not without direction or purpose. In Genesis 47:11, we read, “Then Joseph settled his father and his brothers and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded” (ESV). In this unexpected place, God provided, and they were molded for the future He had planned for them.Worldly thinking tells us that productivity is measured by constant action and visible results. However, God’s ways encourage us to see productivity even in the pauses. Like a farmer resting the land to ensure future bounty, God allows in-between moments to build resilience and character within us. In these times, He invites us to trust deeply in His unobservable yet immensely powerful work, as we anticipate the culmination of His promise.
As we reflect on these spiritual truths, may we grow in humility and spiritual maturity, being ever dependent on God’s provision during our own Goshen seasons. Let us remember that in the waiting, He provides strength and readiness for what lies ahead.
Biblical Points
Provision in Waiting
Scripture: “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.” — Lamentations 3:25 (ESV)
Reflection: Waiting on the Lord is not passive but active. It involves seeking Him and trusting His timing, knowing that even in the in-between, He is good and His provision is perfect.Strength in Surrender
Scripture: “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
Reflection: Expectancy on God’s provision during the in-between renews our strength. Like eagles, we are called to rise above worldly impatience, experiencing His empowering presence.Formation in the Unseen
Scripture: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” — Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
Reflection: God’s workmanship in us is often refined in unseen in-between phases. Here, He is crafting our readiness for the good works set before us.Reflection Questions
1. Why might God be inviting you to embrace this current in-between season rather than rush through it?
2. What provisions has God already made in the in-between of your life that highlight His faithfulness?
3. How can you shift your perspective to view this season of waiting as a time of formation rather than frustration?Memory Verse
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
Closing Encouragement and Prayer
May you find hope and encouragement in knowing that God is actively at work during your in-between seasons. In His kingdom, greatness flows from lives open to His direction, willing to be shaped and molded. Remember that your current position is not your final destination, but a necessary station on your journey toward His promises. Father, we thank You for Your unfailing provision. Teach us to trust deeply in Your timing and work in us the character that reflects Your goodness. Amen.
