Is Christianity A Religion?
Is Christianity a religion? This question delves into the distinction between the Christian life and the Christian religion. There’s a difference between having a life and merely adopting a lifestyle. A life produces a lifestyle, but a lifestyle does not produce life.
I will explain. Every normal human being walks, talks, reasons, and acts like a human. However, animals can be trained to mimic human behaviours; some can even perform human-like actions, but that does not make them human. They may adopt a human lifestyle, but they do not possess human nature or life.
Christianity as a religion often emphasises the outward expression of Christian behaviour or lifestyle but lacks the power to transform a person inwardly. It has a form of godliness but no real power. In contrast, Christianity as a life is a dynamic and intimate relationship with God that goes beyond mere outward behaviour. It involves personal fellowship, participation, communion, and partnership with God. You come to see God as a Father, not just a distant deity you pray to, and you allow Him to mould you into thinking and acting like Him.
In truth, Christianity is a life, not just a religion. It’s about an inward transformation that manifests in an outward lifestyle, rooted in a deep, personal relationship with God. Embrace this life and let it shape your entire being.
