Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Matt.5:8

…that the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. Philemon 1:6

Have you met believers who are always worried about doing or saying the wrong things or focussed on what is wrong about their lives? They are always worried about the possibility that they may commit a sin or miss a mark in their walk with God, so they live in fear or guilt of the unknown. They usually start their prayers with words like “oh lord forgive me for everything I may have done today by commission or by omission.

Incidentally, I was in this exact same position some many years ago, where I was constantly watching out in case I take any wrong step in my relationship with God. I was always concerned that I might fall into one sin or the other, until one day while I was in the bathroom, I started praying with these same words trying to express guilt for sins that I may have omitted when the Holy Spirit stopped me abruptly. He spoke to reprove me and said, “no man moves forward by looking backwards. Also no one becomes righteous by looking at himself but by looking unto Jesus who is our righteousness, only then will we be transformed into HIs image.”

Since then, I was emboldened. I let go of the guilt mentality, or focussing on my human imperfections, and embraced God’s forgiveness, justification and righteousness that transcends human understanding. The Bible tells us that perfect love casts out of fear (1 John 4:18). I discovered that I no longer struggled with those setbacks and I began to live in full acknowledgement of the blessings of the righteous life.

There is nothing wrong in confessing and correcting a particular wrongdoing, but we are not to live or stay in that realm. If you cannot identify the specific wrong thing that you have done, do not allow your untrained conscience to condemn you of something you do not know about. Train your conscience with the word of God which spells who you truly are. Your calling is to live the righteous life. Train yourself to be “righteousness conscious”.

There are many believers who are always asking questions like, “is it wrong to do this, drink that, eat this, or go to that place? These believers sometimes happen to the same ones who tend to look out also for the faults of others.

Titus 1:15 (TLB) admonishes us “a person who is pure of heart sees goodness and purity in everything; but a person whose own heart is evil and untrusting finds evil in everything, for his dirty mind and rebellious heart colours all he sees and hears.”

We are called to desire the best gifts. We are called to purity, not by looking at ourselves to recount our failures but by cleansing our minds/mentality by regular washing with the word of God – looking at how God describes us. We were not born again to struggle to live the godly life rather we were born into the God-life to discover more of him and live as He is. Only the born-again man can see/perceive/experience the fulness of the kingdom of God. The more you see, the more you become what you see.

Do not relate with your old nature rather focus on your new nature and intentionally fill your mind with the good things of this new nature of yours as Paul wrote in Philippians 4:8. There is so much good to discover in you, so let go of the picture from your old self and replace with the picture of your recreated self in Christ which is in righteousness and true holiness. Say good testimonies about yourself.

Start the glorious and unending journey of discovering and acknowledging the good things that are in you which were deposited the moment you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Only then will the cultivation of your faith become effective and evident for all to see. You discover the purity of your heart and see/experience God in every aspect of your life.

I would love to know your thoughts or experience on this. So please do not hold back, keep it coming. Love from me to you.?
