Dashing through the snow…⛄?
Dashing through the snow on a one horse open sleigh… 🎶🎵 I can feel you want to sing along this popular Christmas song in the spirit of the Christmas season even without an actual snow in many areas of the world. I feel so too. No matter your faith or creed, you find that the Christmas season is arguably the best season with irresistible atmosphere everywhere. People tend to be quite nice, beautiful, red, green and white colours at every turn with merry and bright days. It brings a lot of memories.
This year, I couldn’t help but reflect on the events surrounding the birth of our Lord Jesus whom we celebrate at Christmas. I took particular interest on two lovely personalities – Mary and Joseph and the ordeal they had to go through to bring to pass God’s promise and will on earth.
Lets take a look at this scripture to have a flashback of the events at that time “And when they departed, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in the dream saying, Arise and take the young child and the mother and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.” Matt 2:13
For this young couple, it was not a pleasure dash through the snow but it was a dangerous dash to safety because they were protecting the promise of God. This was a young unambitious virgin lady who had to go through a pregnancy and delivery she did not desire or plan for and this was a young man, Joseph going through the distress of relocation with a pregnancy and a baby that he is not responsible for except for the words of an Angel to him. One would wonder, why didn’t God make the baby Jesus invisible so Herod cannot see him or send angels to protect the baby or perhaps threaten or kill Herod? I wonder what you think about this?
Can you relate their experience to yours regarding instructions God has given to you in the past or even concerning your future – what challenges you went through or are still dashing through. What lessons can we learn from these two heroes of faith to use in our personal walk with God? I would like to here your thoughts on this. So please do keep the thoughts coming. Merry Christmas in advance!!!
