Embracing Peace With God

The search for peace is arguably one of the greatest quests of humanity. Since the fall of man, humans have sought peace with the Supernatural, peace within themselves, and peace with others. Today, we hear talks about peace. Religions, placards, speeches, and even wars are all pursued in the name of peace. However, despite all these attempts, there is still no peace to be found. In fact, the Bible foretells that the Antichrist will be known as the “Man of Peace” because he will promise and deliver (for a short while) an elusive peace to the world.

But what is peace? Peace is not just the absence of conflict or trouble. It comes from the Hebrew word “Shalom” – which means “nothing missing, nothing broken”. It is a state of total wholeness, encompassing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. It is a place of rest and abandonment in God, where we refuse to let adverse circumstances dictate our response. Above all, peace is a gift from God.

Romans 5:1 states, “Being justified by faith we have peace with God.” Ephesians 2:13-14 says that Jesus is our peace. It also says, “But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.” Whether you believe in God or not, there is a desire in every person for the spiritual – a knowing that there is a mystery about life. Religion is an attempt by man to find the supernatural through rites and rituals. But God solved this for us by creating a permanent way – Jesus Christ.

The greatest peace anyone can experience is peace with God. When you are no longer afraid of or running from Him, you are welcome home into the fellowship of the Godhead. You have the Spirit of sonship to not only worship Him as Almighty God but also the wonderful privilege of calling Him “Abba Father”. He becomes your anchoring peace!

Have people, religion, family, or friends made you feel rejected, unworthy of love, unwelcome because of the way you are or what you have done? Jesus says, “Come to me all who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Come home! You belong to him, and you’ll find your true self in Him. Reconnect and find peace with God!
