July 06: Strong in Meekness

In a world that esteems assertiveness and self-promotion, the concept of meekness can seem counterintuitive. However, as followers of Christ, we are called to embody meekness—a strength under control that reflects the character of our humble Savior. Matthew 5:5 reminds us, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth” (ESV). Meekness, far from weakness, is a powerful trait that allows us to yield to God’s will and navigate conflicts with grace and gentleness. The world may view meekness as passivity or timidity, but in God’s eyes, it is a mark of spiritual maturity and inner strength. Jesus, our ultimate example of meekness, displayed quiet power in His submission to the Father’s will, even unto death on the cross. As we cultivate meekness in our lives, we learn to trust in God’s sovereignty, knowing that true strength comes not from our own efforts but from surrendering to His guidance and wisdom.
