Ready For Change: Why Your Prayers May Not Be Working
Have you ever wondered why some Christians appear to have radically transformed lives while others remain stuck, even though they pray and believe in God just the same?
Many believers assume that if they pray more, God will eventually be “moved” to act. But Jesus said, “Watch and pray.” Watching means engaging your mind, observing details, expanding your perspective, and noticing opportunities around you. Prayer is powerful, but it was never meant to replace action or growth.
Reflecting on Israel’s journey: the promised land was originally only days away, yet it took 40 years in the wilderness before they were ready to enter. Why? Because God will not bless you beyond the capacity you can manage. His promises don’t change, but our readiness determines how quickly we walk into them.
Recently, while meditating the Lord reminded me of the words He had spoken to me. He then told me that the time is now and I need to position, myself right for it by expanding my knowledge and network. I began to build my capacity and realised more growth as I did.
Ready For Change?
So, what about you? Are you preparing for what you’re asking God for? If you’re praying for rain, have you prepared vessels to catch it? Scripture says, “When the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth.” (Eccl. 11:3) But when the time of blessing comes, only the ready can appropriate it. That’s why Hosea reminds us: “Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord.” (Hos. 10:12)
Keep sowing through resourcefulness: “Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will prosper.” (Eccl. 11:6) Success belongs not just to the prayerful, but to the prepared.
