September 12: Cultivating Callings Amid Conflict
In seasons of adversity, the seed of potential God plants within us often faces fierce opposition, much like Moses’ beginning in a world set against him. The kingdom principle here is that God’s purposes are birthed and nurtured amid trials, not despite them. While the world sees obstacles as barriers, God uses them to deepen our dependence on Him and grow the divine callings within us.The worldly perspective often tries to eliminate potential threats at the onset, as Pharaoh sought to do by commanding the death of Israelite male infants (Exodus 1:22). Yet, God specializes in using what is overlooked and oppressed for His glory. Just as the Israelites continued to flourish under oppression in Egypt, our callings can thrive even when circumstances appear insurmountable because God is greater than the systems that seek to attack His intentions.
Scripture is full of narratives that demonstrate God’s sovereignty over seemingly dire situations. Joseph’s journey from the pit to the palace, David’s rise from shepherd boy to king, and Jesus’ path of suffering all reveal a God who is working all things according to His perfect will. Embrace this truth and allow it to cultivate resilience, humility, and an unshakeable faith in your heart. Trust that the divine Gardener is cultivating your calling amidst life’s conflicts.
# Biblical Points:
1. God’s Sovereignty in Oppression
– Scripture: “But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.” — Exodus 1:12 (ESV)
– Reflection: Just as the Israelites thrived under oppression, so can our callings. God uses adversity to teach us dependence and faith, reminding us that growth often comes through trials, not in spite of them.2. Protection of Divine Promise
– Scripture: “By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.” — Hebrews 11:23 (ESV)
– Reflection: Moses’ parents’ faith and courage remind us that divine promises are worth protecting. Our role may include safeguarding what God has placed within us, trusting in His overarching plan for our lives.3. God’s Unthwartable Purposes
– Scripture: “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” — Proverbs 19:21 (ESV)
– Reflection: When systems attack our seeds of potential, we rest in the truth that God’s purposes will prevail regardless. Our challenge is to align our lives with His eternity-bound plans over the noise of the world.# Reflection Questions:
1. Why do you think God allows adversities during the development of His plans in our lives?
2. What potential “callings” or “seeds” do you believe God is cultivating within you right now?
3. How can you practically foster an attitude of trust and perseverance amid life’s battles?# Memory Verse:
“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.” — Psalm 138:8 (ESV)# Closing Encouragement and Prayer:
Beloved, as you navigate the conflicts laid before you, remember that every challenge is an opportunity for the seed inside you to stretch toward the sun. God’s purposes for your life are unshakeable and eternal. May you walk in humble dependence, knowing that He is the ultimate author and perfecter of both faith and calling.Heavenly Father, nurture and grow the callings You have planted within us. Teach us to trust Your heart in every difficulty, knowing that You work all things for our good and Your glory. In the name of Jesus, who Himself triumphed through trial, we pray. Amen.
