The Whole Purpose of God Pt 4

In this post, we conclude our expository series on the Whole Purpose of God. So far, in parts 1-3, we have established that the Bible is not a storybook or a mere collection of historical facts or religious events. While it may have many parts and uses, it has a central idea neatly woven through the texts to reveal the original idea of its originator – God.
In this last part, we will look deeper into the implications of the Mount of Transfiguration and how all the Bible is the unfolding revelation of God’s eternal purpose centred in Christ and His Kingdom.

The Mount of Transfiguration: A Divine Handover

The transfiguration scene in Matthew 17 is a pivotal moment. Jesus stands with Moses (the law) and Elijah (the prophets), radiating with divine glory. Then a voice from heaven declares, “This is my beloved Son; listen to Him!” (Matthew 17:5). It is the Father’s endorsement of the New Covenant, a handover of authority from the temporary to the eternal.

Redemption of All, Activation by Faith

After the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom (Matthew 27:51). Access to God was no longer mediated through rituals but opened through Christ Himself. As Jesus says in John 10:9, “I am the door.”
He didn’t just die for believers; He purchased the whole field (Matthew 13:44). But only those who believe receive the right to become children of God (John 1:12). Faith activates what Christ has already made available.
Through faith, we are “delivered from the domain of darkness and transferred to the kingdom of his beloved Son” (Colossians 1:13). We don’t just visit this Kingdom; we become citizens. We no longer lay claim to promises as outsiders; they are now our inheritance in Christ.

A New Reality: Sons and Daughters of God

This is not religion. This is relationship. More than that, it is restoration. We are not merely improved sinners; we are new creations. We are restored to God’s original intention, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness” (Genesis 1:26).
In Christ, we find our origin, our identity, and our destiny. The Bible, from beginning to end, tells one cohesive story: God reconciling all things to Himself in Christ, establishing His Kingdom on earth through redeemed humanity.
This is the whole purpose of God. And now that you see the whole picture, don’t stop at the surface. Step fully into the Kingdom.

Discussion Prompt

If God’s whole purpose is restoring us as sons and daughters in His Kingdom, what is one area of your life where you need to stop living like an outsider and start walking in your full inheritance in Christ?
