But I Believe in God. Isn’t That Enough?
Believing in God is a vital first step—but even demons believe that God exists (James 2:19). The real question is: Do you have a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ?
Imagine someone saying, “I believe in the president, but I’ve never met him or received anything from him.” That belief is distant and uninvolved.
God doesn’t just want you to believe He exists—He wants you to receive His life. That only happens through Jesus:
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God…” — John 1:12John 1:12
Faith in God must extend beyond mere acknowledgement; it must become a personal experience. When you receive Jesus, you don’t just believe in a faraway God—you become part of His family.
Is it necessary to be born again?
Yes. According to Jesus Himself, being born again is not optional—it is essential.
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3John 3:3, NKJV
These were not the words of a preacher or apostle, but of Jesus, spoken to a deeply religious man named Nicodemus. Interestingly, Nicodemus already believed in God, followed Jewish laws, and was respected for his devotion—but Jesus told him plainly: “You must be born again” (John 3:7).
To be born again means to receive a new life—God’s life—into your spirit. You were born physically through your parents, but your spirit must be made alive to God by His Spirit. It’s a rebirth, not of the body, but of the heart. It is the beginning of a relationship, not just a religion.
You may ask: “Can’t I just live my life without religion?”
You can, and many do. But Christianity is not about religion in the traditional sense, it’s about restoration of relationship with the God who made you.
Think of it like this:
Religion tries to reach God through rules.
Jesus came to restore what was lost: intimacy with the Father.
Without Him, we’re just existing—pursuing success, relationships, or pleasure, but still feeling that void inside. That “God-shaped space” can’t be filled with anything else.
E.W. Kenyon once said:
““The reason men are restless and unsatisfied is because they have never received the nature of God.”
Here’s why being born again matters:
You receive forgiveness and peace with God.
Romans 5:1 – “We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”You receive a new nature.
2 Corinthians 5:17 – “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”You are adopted into God’s family.
Romans 8:15 – “You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”You gain eternal life.
John 3:16 – “Whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
❤️ Final Thought:
You weren’t created just to exist—you were created to belong… to God. Believing about God is not enough. Being born again is how you belong to Him.
You don’t need to “clean yourself up” first. You don’t need to become “religious.” You just need to say, “Jesus, I believe You died for me. I receive Your life. Make me new.”
“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” — 1John 5:121 John 5:12
