    Transcending Grudges

    Scripture: Ephesians 4:31-32; Matthew 18:21-22

    Scenario 1:

“My spouse keeps repeating the same thing I dislike. I tried letting her know but she laughs it off. I still remember every time she has done it over the years. She never apologized, and honestly, I don’t think she even realizes how deeply she hurts me. I’ve moved on in some ways, but whenever I think of it or hear about it, the bitterness comes rushing back. How do I truly forgive when the pain still feels fresh?”

    Scenario 2:

“A friend betrayed my trust and shared something deeply personal. I forgave him because I knew it was the right thing to do, but part of me still holds back. I’m polite, but distant. Is that forgiveness? Can you forgive and still keep your guard up?”

    Discussion Question:

    1. Have you ever struggled to forgive someone who never acknowledged the hurt they caused?

    2. What helped you move forward—or what’s still holding you back?
