July 22: Prove All Things

Draw on the wisdom and discernment of those who are older and seasoned in the Lord to teach you how to recognize the difference between the real and the counterfeit. That is what Paul was trying to teach the Thessalonians when he told them to “Prove all things….”

Very insightful! Test every spirit!
We should all be like bearean Christians , who researched every word.
Prophecies are and should be a confirmation of the word of God. It must not contradict scripture or the principles of faith and the doctrine of Christ.
It is for edification, correction and for rebuke but overall for the good of the receiver. It must not cast down, destroy or throw confusion. That’s how we prove prophecy.
This is such a good reminder! There’s so many things being spoken right now and it’s been tempting for me to just tune everything out because of some false teachers and false words being spoken. But I need to rely on the Holy Spirit and the Word to test whatever is spoken, instead of just disregarding everything altogether. God is still speaking, and it’s our responsibility to test the prophetic words and receive edification when it’s truly from God.
